LI live in Huntsville, TX with my husband, Steve, two dogs, and five cats (no kids).  I am a freelance nurse writer with a podcast for nursing students, as well as new nurses to help them navigate their nursing program and provide guidance with Learn More, Worry Less with LVN Success Hub.   With a passion for writing, as an accomplished author, I love to research and write.  My favorite color is red, my favorite TV show is NCIS.  I love being a nurse (LVN), and I love sharing all-things nursing. 

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse for the past 18 years, my career started out in Corrections (culture shock!), but it was an enormous chance to learn a great deal about chronic illnesses and wound care; K9 bites are some of the worst wound care to deal with. Along the way, I worked for ICE as a nurse (not agent), and learned great deal about other cultures, as well as diseases from those countries. That, too, was quite a challenge, but well worth the experience. I was an MT in Japan, volunteering and working for two military hospitals where every type of transcription possible was transcribed, including the unfortunate autopsies. After two years at the Naval Hospital, I was promoted to supervisor. Upon returning to the U.S.A, and settling in the mountains, I contracted with the local ER for their transcription/documentation full-time, as well as with a U.S. transcription company that was remote. Before becoming a nurse, I was an EMT. I have an excellent grasp and understanding with medical terminology, and I love to type! For my podcast, I do research, write blogs and articles about my findings, and what I learn I share with new nurses, nursing students, and on Substack to inform readers. My podcast is also on YouTube under LVN Success Hub and Buzzsprout, audio version only. I am no longer doing bedside nursing; I had an unfortunate work-related accident two years ago while working with ICE and was advised to work from home. Medical transcription Concierge Service was founded.

In addition to being a nurse and freelance writer and author, I love to sew and sing. The problem with my singing is when I start singing, one of my dogs howls with me, makes it hard to keep from laughing or staying focused. I cannot tell if my singing hurts her ears, I am not singing well and she is trying to tell me please stop, Or, she is joining me! That's a good thought!

Back to my sewing, I love to make wedding gowns.  I have not tried to make a veil, yet, but that's next.  I almost like (not love) to cook,  and I'm not a bad cook; my homemade enchiladas are great, I think so anyway, and my homemade chili beans are reallly good!  My meatloaf is quite good, too.  I can't be all bad because my hubby always goes back for seconds  (and thirds); and here I am, trying to get him to lose weight.  Not happening.
